The Scientific Muslim is an interesting work that aims to dispel negative perceptions and stereotypes regarding science and Islam. The author argues in the book that the Qur’an places immense emphasis on scientific knowledge and many of the misconceptions prevalent in society are due to the misinterpretation of the Qur’an. He urges readers to look to the Qu’ran for revelations about science. He has a scientific understanding of the Qur’an and attempts to understand the message of the holy book by deriving the meaning of words through their roots and usage at different places and contexts, the latter being described in the Qur’an as Tasreef-e-Aayat or diversification of verses. He has shown how the meanings of words were lost in translation.

Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz was the Vice-Chancellor of Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad. He has more than 35 years of experience in teaching, research and administration. He is a science communicator and has five books and more than 350 popular science write-ups to his credit.
